Rooting Deep - Standing Asana Focus

Standing poses are the building blocks of a yoga practice. They are representative of our ability to be grounded, to be standing on our own two feet. The alignment we strive to perfect in Tadasana is reflected throughout every asana in our practice. If the student can master Tadasana, then all of the other asanas are like building blocks on a strong foundation. This session will be a vigorous yet uplifting Jivamukti Yoga class for all levels.

Saturday PM Philosophy Workshop 3-5pm

Deep Exploration of the Samādhi Pada

Embark on a journey of self-discovery with our two-hour workshop, where we will delve into the profound teachings of the first chapter of the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali. Sunday AM Asana Workshop + Flow 10 - 12:30pm

The Interior and Inversions

Vitarka-bādhane prati-pakṣa-bhāvanam: when disturbed by disturbing thoughts, think of the opposite.

This is the advice given by Patañjali in the second chapter of the yoga sutra. To think the opposite is to invert the normal way of being in the world with the intent of changing our impact. The challenge is made tangible as we invert our bodies to literally see the world from the opposite perspective. This workshop will challenge the body and mind using an intelligent vinyasa practice coupled with inversions and partner work. This is a continuation of the previous workshops, however new students are very welcome.

** New in 2023! **

Sunday PM Continued Education Workshop 2-6pm

Sequencing Workshop: Backbending Focus (For teachers and dedicated practitioners)

We all know the power of a good sequence of āsana — a sense of clarity, calm, ease in the body and mind. We begin the journey in this workshop with the knowledge of where we want to go. When it comes to creating a sequence for an āsana class we may ask ourselves: Is there a peak pose, mood or further practice we are preparing for or is this sequence the goal. The answer to these questions will determine when we strengthen or mobilise, pick up the pace or let it settle.

With backward bending as our theme will focus on:

  • 3 regions in the body that need attention and care when backbending

  • 3 categories of backward bending

  • Key muscles within each region including direction of muscle fibres, connections to other muscles/ligaments or tendons

  • Supportive backbending hands-on assists and adjustments

This sequencing workshop is for teachers or serious students who wish to learn more about the art of sequencing āsana for themselves and others.
